Of course, we all have our own interpretation as to what defines an ideal stomach. However, I don’t believe many people would deny the fact that six-pack abs make it perfectly clear as to how a good midsection should look. My point is that so few people even consider the possibility of an eight-pack.

Can You Really Have Eight-Pack Abs?

If you’re asking yourself this question right now, don’t worry because you’re not the first and you won’t be the last. The truth is, because the abdominal area consists of an upper, a lower, and an oblique section, we can have an eight-pack although the last pair of muscles remains largely out of view for most people.

The oblique abdominal muscles are located on the sides and it’s these which give the waist a tapered shape. Both the upper and lower abs consist of multiple segments of muscle but of course it’s the lower abs below the belly button which cause the tapering towards the pelvic region.

Visit The #1 Resource For Getting 8 Pack Abs

As with the upper abs, the lower abs are also divided into four segments and when the fat is burnt away from this area your abs become visible. Be forewarned though as the lower region has a reputation for being extremely difficult to define.

Don’t get me wrong because I’m by no means saying that an eight-pack is easily obtainable, but I am saying it’s possible so long as you pay attention to:

•	Diet
•	Strength training
•	Attitude

How Are These Three Linked to an Eight-Pack?

First of all, if you can actually see somebody’s six-pack, it’s evident they have a very low percentage of body fat. Of course, in order to have such a small amount of fat indicates that it’s the diet which makes it possible for a six-pack or eight-pack to be visible.

The only way to make your abs show up is by making some radical changes to your diet. Ideally, fats should be kept to a bare minimum while at the same time consuming plenty of complex carbs and protein. Skinless chicken and lean beef can provide all the protein you need.

Anyone who’s already started working towards having an eight-pack will be well aware of the fact that strength training goes hand in hand with getting there. For the majority of people, the most common training used in the beginning is crunches and sit-ups, using no additional weights.

Of course while these exercises are ideal for beginners, you’ll need to try different approach when you’re ready to bulk up and when that time arrives, it’ll be time for you leave those floor exercises and get on the weight machine instead.

Exercises for Eight-Pack Abs

Weight Assisted Crunches

Start off with a light weight held against your chest at first and do your crunches as you would without weights. As your abdominal muscles become more developed you can begin increasing the weight and reducing the repetitions.

Weight Assisted Sit-Ups

For these sit-ups, you’ll be back on the floor and as you’re now including weights, you may want to use a padded exercise mat to lie on. Using a medicine ball, do your sit-up while holding the ball held against your chest. Once you’re in the sitting position, stretch to your right or left side as if you were going to pass the ball.

Obviously, if you stretched left on the first sit-up, then you need to stretch right on the next. Not only does exercise work on the upper abs but it also works effectively on the oblique muscles.

Hanging Style Crunches

As I mentioned earlier, you’ll have to work hard to see those lower abs and of course you don’t want to lose some of the definition of the oblique abs and upper abs in the process.

An abs frame or suspension armbands can nowadays be found at practically all gyms and the good thing is, they’re all you need for this exercise. Start off by hanging from the bar or armbands, engage abs and raise your knees up towards your chest. Hold them there for a few seconds and then slowly allow them down to the start position again.

Learn The Fastest Way To Remove Belly Fat and Get A Ripped Stomach

With this exercise there is a lot of demand placed lower abdominal muscles in order for your knees to be raised, while at the same time, the upper abs are also engaged. Furthermore, by adding in a twist on the way up and on the way down, your oblique muscles will also be getting a workout.

In all honesty, getting an eight-pack is considerably more taxing than getting a six-pack but so long as you make the most of your abs exercises, it’s well within your reach.

I wonder how many times your eyes have settled on the well defined abs of those guys on the big screen, of those super-sexy women you see on the front covers of magazines? Let’s face it, they make it look like anyone can have that same killer build.

One thing is for certain however, getting your stomach flat is easier than getting washboard abs. In fact, all it requires in order to get a flat stomach is a suitable diet and some abdominal exercises to remove the fat. The more belly fat you burn away, the more those abs are going to show up.

Visit The #1 Resource For Getting Washboard Abs

If your goal is to get an impressive six-pack rather than just a plain old flat stomach, then you better be ready to make an effort. You can rest assured, there’s no quick and easy solution but it can be done so if you’re serious go ahead and ask yourself these questions:

•	How serious are you about getting a six-pack?
•	Are you willing to put in the effort required?
•	Why do you want a six-pack?
•	Are you willing to make sacrifices?
•	How long are you’re willing to work for one?

Interestingly enough, if we look back in history to the ancient Greek empire good symmetry in the human body rated very highly and if you think about it, it makes perfect sense because after all, unless all areas of your body are in proportion you’re simply not going to have that great look you’re after.

1) Hanging Leg Raises

Those who are just starting out may want to skip this exercise at first. Firstly, hold on to a bar which is above head height. Now, bend your legs at the knees and start bringing them up towards your elbows. The more you do this exercise the stronger your abdominal muscles will become and the higher you’ll be able to bring your legs up. The important thing here is that you need to resist the urge to swing.

2) Sit-Ups Using a Medicine Ball

Yes sure we’ve all heard that sit-ups are bad for you but you can be sure that’s simply because of the potential strain they can place on the neck and back. The secret is to curve the back when you sit up, hence the reason for using a medicine ball. Additionally, when you return to the down position don’t follow all the way through but instead hover just a couple of inches above the ground.

3) Bicycle

Let’s face it, we probably all remember this exercise from our childhood years, where we’d lay on our backs, legs in the air, and make as if we were peddling a bicycle. Well, with this exercise we do basically the same thing. Place your hands alongside your neck and then lift your head and upper back just a couple of inches off the ground. Now lift up your legs and bend them to about 90 degrees at the knees and start peddling just as if you were riding a bicycle.

4) Ball Crunches

Here again, you need one of those large exercise balls. Sit on it and then allow yourself to slide off it in such a way that your back is against a wall and then proceed as you would with regular crunches. Sure this sounds like a walk in the park but the advantage is that they allow you to work your upper abs without placing any strain at all on back or neck. The only additional requirement is that you keep your abs engaged.

Learn The Fastest Way To Remove Belly Fat and Get A Ripped Abs

Sure you’ve disciplined yourself and you’re doing your regular exercise but you need to back it up with a sensible diet. Avoid complex carbs such as pasta, bread and processed foods, as you would the plague. Remember, in order achieve a six-pack you need to get your percentage of body fat really low so it’s ultimately in your best interest to stick to protein rich foods, vegetables and some fresh fruit.

Who knows what the future holds? Perhaps one day we’ll be able to swallow a few pills and have an instant six-pack, but for now, we just have to accept that it’s going to take some work.

For some strange reason people always refer to their abs as a stomach although essentially our stomach is just one of our organs. Admittedly though, it does feel as though it’s our abs which are hurting when in fact it’s our stomach. Either way, in order to keep matters simple we’ll go ahead and continue using the term “six-pack abs” or a “six-pack stomach”.

The inevitable truth regarding a six-pack is that a combination of activities are required so if you’re relying solely on weight training, or solely on cardio, you’re going to be disappointed. Considering that a calorie deficit is required in order for fat to be burned, cardio is very beneficial in that it burns calories. Interestingly enough, one needs to burn up 3500 calories for each pound of fat they wish to loose.

The reason why weight training is so beneficial is because it builds muscle, and muscles in turn burn fat. In fact, your muscles will burn fat 24 hours a day. It’s undeniable that weight training is a huge asset to abs workouts because even during days when you’re not training your muscles will still be burning fat.

Okay, so you’re doing cardio and you’re also doing some weight training, but remember food is what fuels your body.

Way back in the early days everyone used to eat natural foods such as bacon, beef, and even biscuits and cake made from flour and real butter, so how was it even possible for them to stay in shape? Well, it was easy really, because they were burning up all that fat by the very nature of their existence.

Do yourself a favor and ignore those fancy products you see on the infomercials. Sure they claim they can give you a six-pack, but the truth is they can’t. Great looking abs comes from doing abdominal exercises.

Ideally you should concentrate on a variety of exercises keeping in mind that those which burn fat and build muscle simultaneously are by far the best. Likewise, combination exercises which work multiple muscles are also highly recommended.

Knee Lift Shoulder Press

Before you start with this one you should know that it’s best to start of with relatively light weights. Knees should be apart and in line with your shoulders. Arms must be bent at the elbows while holding the weight level with your ears.

Raise your left knee up towards the weight in your left hand but at the same time raise both arms up above your head. This exercise causes your abs muscles to work as you are forced to balance yourself. Additionally, it’s also a great exercise for your shoulders.

Reverse Lunge Kick

This is a very effective combination exercise as it works not only your abs but also the quadriceps and gluteus maximius. Once again, with weights in hands, move your left leg out behind yourself in a wide stance and then lunge downwards. When you return to your original position, you need to do a front kick with the opposite leg. This routine should then be repeated with the opposite leg. This is exceptionally good for developing your abs as it works on the entire area.

Salsa Dancing

Salsa dancing requires the dancer to perform a vast amount of spins, kicks and twists, all of which work the abs from all sides. When one considers how many such movements there are in the average routine, it’s hardly surprising then that dancers have such shapely waists and such well defined abs.

So, do you still want a six-pack? Of course you do! Just remember that together with a suitable diet you need to keep those abs working.

Sure you can have great looking abs. After all, those film stars we see in the latest blockbusters all have them and yes, they are real but they had to work for them, just as you’ll have to.

There’s no instant solution to getting a six-pack but rather, it all starts with desire. Just because you work out in the gym everyday doesn’t mean you’ll have a six-pack. Likewise, loosing a load of weight also won’t guarantee a chiseled mid-section. In order to achieve that sought after six-pack, you’ll need to focus on:

•	An exercise schedule
•	A diet plan
•	A training program
•	A positive mental attitude

Exercise Schedule

Whether or not you want a six-pack, regular exercise is recommended by health professionals all over the world. In addition to working muscles, exercise results in increasing one’s metabolism. When this happens, as the muscle fibers are broken down, the body burns fat in order to rebuild them and the best part of all is, this process continues even when the muscles are at rest.

For many people, getting rid of fat is certainly not easy but you can be sure of one thing and that is, it will definitely pay off in the long run. Essentially, you need to be consistent so you may well find that scheduling certain tasks will produce the best results. For example, one could schedule set times for:

•	Walking
•	Jogging
•	Training
•	Housework
•	Dancing
•	Cycling
•	Swimming

The fact is we’re all spoilt for choice with regards to ways in which we can exercise as there’s simply so much to choose from.

Diet Plan

Unless you get your body fat levels down, you’ll never see your abs. In fact, in order for your abs to be visible, your body fat needs to be between 9 and 15%, and while woman are at the higher end of the scale compared to men, both sexes need to shed a considerable amount of fat to get within those limits.

The basic components of our diets, are carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Of course it goes without saying, all three should be consumed in moderation. Carbohydrates are of particular importance because they’ve been well documented to cause our blood sugar levels to spike which in turn often results in cravings for certain foods. Have you ever wandered why you sometimes crave sweets, or even pasta? Unfortunately, while these may calm our cravings, they also hide your abs away.

If you really want your abs to see the sun, you need to restrict your intake of carbs to only those coming from fruit and vegetables. Unlike regular carbs which get stored as fat when not used, carbs from fresh fruit and vegetables help to curb overeating.

Training

As you can well imagine, in order for you to have a chiseled midsection, you need to work your abs, and yet, for some peculiar reason, many people focus working their entire body but they tend to neglect their abs. On the other hand, many focus solely on their abs and neglect the rest of their body.

Training in order to have a great looking six-pack, actually requires you to work your whole body, and not just your abs. After all, what’s the point of having awesome looking abs while the rest of your body looks completely out of proportion?

Positive Attitude

Many people tend to start out great but then the day comes when they eventually get sick of eating only certain foods. Even if they’ve started being able to see their abs, many people start to questions whether or not it’s worth it. Providing you can maintain a positive mental attitude, you’ll overcome those days when you question your motives.

Diet, exercise and a reasonable amount of discipline is all it takes. If you can live with that, then go ahead and help yourself to the six-pack of your dreams.

We all have abdominal muscles. You might think that you don’t because they can’t be seen, but they are there. To bring them out, learn how to tone your abs.

The Toning Equation

There is a method to the madness here. Toning is a combination of burning the fat and challenging the muscles. To burn the fat, you will need to get your heart rate up and lower your caloric intake.

To lower your caloric intake, keep a food diary for a week to see exactly what you are eating. Don’t feel pressured to change what you eat during that week. The idea is to do what you normally do and then evaluate what changes to make. By cutting portion sizes, drinking more no calorie drinks, and making better food choices, your food will come in line with what it takes to tone your abs.

Visit The #1 Resource For Getting Toned Abs

The other part of the equation is burning the fat. That comes from exercise. There are two types of exercise for the abs:

•	Aerobic exercise
•	Weight bearing exercise

Aerobic Exercise

Burn baby burn! Take a dance class, aerobics class, spinning class, or take a brisk walk around the neighborhood. The object is to burn the calories and the fat. As the fat disappears, the definition of your muscles can be seen. You’ll think that you are seeing results faster from lifting weights, but it is the combination of fewer calories and more calorie burn that is doing it.

Weight Bearing Exercise

This is where those abs get toned. When the fat is gone, you will have a flat stomach but it won’t necessarily be toned unless you add some weight to the workout.

1.	Weighted Crunches – Perform your crunches on a bench or on an exercise ball. Hold a weight or a weighted medicine ball to your chest. Perform a crunch with the weight. Hold at the top for two seconds and then slowly curl back down to the start position. For a more challenging crunch, lay in the opposite direction on an incline bench so that your head is at the bottom. Perform your weighted crunches with your feet under the foot rest so you don’t slide off the bench.

2.	Oblique Crunches – Don’t forget about those love handles. As you crunch make a slight twist to one side. Hold for two seconds and return to starting position. For a bigger challenge, hold a weight in both hands. As you twist, place your hands to the outside of your knee for a deeper oblique crunch.

3.	Weighted Knee Lifts – Knee lifts work the lower abs. To add a challenge, strap ankle weights on your legs. You can start with as little as one pound and go up from there. Alternate knee lifts and see the difference. Be sure to engage the lower abs and lift the knee at least to the height of your belly button.

Toning the abs involves burning the fat and showing the muscle. The exercises above can be done at home with minimum equipment. You don’t need to belong to a gym to tone that midsection.

So you’ve been working on your abs but still don’t have the definition that you want? It’s time to ramp up that workout for greater results. Here are a few tips for achieving the flat hard abs of your dreams.

Tip #1: Modify Your Diet

In the quest for that perfect set of abs, you have to consider what you are putting into your mouth. Food is something that everyone struggles with. The better it tastes, usually the worse it is for your body. But, for a flat stomach that shows the six pack delineation, you’ll need to eat more protein and less fat and carbs.

Visit The #1 Resource For Getting Flat Hard Abs

Don’t eliminate any food group from your diet. Each has its own place in making our body function. The trick is to choose healthy fats, complex whole grain carbs, and lean protein. If you want those abs to get flat and stay that way, eat fewer calories than you burn and choose the right calories to eat.

Tip #2: Increase Your Cardiovascular Exercise

Why cardiovascular? Well, if you want everyone to notice those hard abs, then the fat covering them has to go. Muscles are hidden under the fat layer between them and your skin. A certain amount of “padding” is needed, but not as much as we’d like to think. Increasing aerobic activity burns calories and fat so that your hard work on your abs will get pay off.

Try to find an exercise that burns fat and works your abs at the same time for a double whammy. This includes: aerobic kickboxing, dancing, step aerobics, and organized sports. All get your heart rate up into the fat burning range for maximum results.

Tip #3: Add Weights To Your Abdominal Routine

How do you do that? First, you can start using the weight machines at the gym. They let you use either your own body weight or a stack of weights for resistance. As you get better, you can increase the weight for muscle confusion. Even dumbbells work for exercises like the overhead triceps move, weighted side bends, and weighted crunches.

Even though you may have been doing abs exercises or working out in general for some time, ease into the weight work. Adding weight also adds the incidence of injury. Go slow for better form and see the change in your midsection.

Learn The Fastest Way To Get Flat Hard Abs & Get A Ripped Stomach

The abs, along with the back muscles, make up the core of our body. Like other body parts, we want them to look the best that they can. These three tips will get you off that plateau and set you up for a more defined abdomen.

Summer will be here before you know it. We all look forward to when the weather is warm. But, who wants to show off a soft belly? Here are some exercises to get those abs in shape fast.

Before you go on remember that there are no shortcuts to success with your abs. Only the work you do will show you the results that you want. But, results can be accelerated with the proper exercises.

Before you begin these exercises, go to your fridge. In there could be something that stands between you and that beautiful midsection you’ve been wanting. Take an inventory of your food choices and make any necessary changes. Here are some suggestions:

•	Instead of chips…..sliced cucumbers with fat free dip
•	Instead of donuts….a slice of angel food cake to fight the sugar craving
•	Instead of soda……a glass of flavored water
•	Instead of a burger….a 3 oz portion of lean steak or chicken
•	Instead of macaroni and cheese…..steamed veggies and rice

These changes will give you the fuel you need to burn more fat during your exercise sessions so those flat defined abs will make an appearance.

1.	Reverse crunches – The main area of the abs that gives the most problem are the lower abs. Most abs exercises focus at least on the upper abs but leave the area below the belly button neglected. Here, lay flat like you are getting ready to do a crunch. With the upper abs engaged, curl the lower half of your body in towards your chest. Try to touch your knees to your elbows. When you curl, squeeze your lower abs to bring those legs in. Continue to squeeze as you lower your legs to the floor. Reverse crunches can also be done on an incline bench with your hands behind the bench instead of your head if neck pain is a problem.

2.	Hanging knee raises – Use an abs frame designed for this move or you can use the monkey bars at the park if you don’t belong to a gym. Holding onto the bar or with arms on the arm rests of the frame, squeeze your entire midsection and lift your knees up towards your belly button. Raising both knees at the same time is hard and really targets the lower abs. if this is hard to manage, alternate knees until you can manage to raise both together with proper form.

3.	Medicine ball toss – Two people get the benefit of this exercise. The medicine ball adds weight to your workout. Sit with knees bent and the soles of your shoes touching those of your partner. Lean back with abs engaged and toss the ball to your partner. Catch the ball in the same leaning back position to work the abs. for more of a challenge; catch the ball and then twist to work the oblique abs. toss the ball from your twisted position.

Concentrating on the abs intensifies the workout. To get abs in shape quickly, modify your eating plan and try the exercises above with or without variations to work the entire abdominal area.

This is not an article that will promise you flatter abs in ten days. It is about how to effectively flatten your abs in the shortest amount of time. How long a time depends on your body and your dedication to the task at hand.

Technically, if you started today and exercised your abs for the next ten days, they would be flatter than they were before. But, we all know that that is not what people expect when they watch those infomercials. They expect to look like the models on the program.

Visit The #1 Resource For Getting A Flat Stomach – Click Here!

Accept right now that that will not happen. Instead, you will get a flat stomach that was meant for you if you work at it. There are several components that factor into getting a flat stomach in a short amount of time.

What Are You Eating

We are back to the food. Food plays a big role in our lives. At one time, people ate to fuel their bodies for the hard work they did each day. Through the centuries, we added sweeteners and other spices to liven up the taste. We also created a monster.

Now, we are slaves to our taste buds. Instead of eating to live, we are living to eat, more and more. Obesity is out of control. It isn’t just about flattening our stomachs but saving our lives.

Take an inventory of everything you eat in a day. If you have to, keep a food diary for seven days. You’ll be surprised at how much many things you forgot that you ate. We eat unconsciously when we watch television or at the movie theater. When we spend time with friends, there is food around and we eat sometimes because it’s there.

Getting a flat stomach requires a change in eating habits. Many of us don’t eat one vegetable all day. V-8 juice doesn’t count because it has other ingredients and empty carbs besides the vegetables. Eating fruits and vegetables in their rawest form provides the best nutrients.

Avoiding fried foods and trans fats is another big area. Eating a lot of sugar results in empty calories taken in and fat deposited on our bodies. If you are exercising but not changing your diet, it’s like a hamster in a wheel-going nowhere fast.

Nutrition is a big part of losing weight and reshaping the abs. less bad stuff in and you’ll see the body using what we do eat more efficiently. Battle the sugar fixes with sugarless gum or fresh fruit. The naturally sweet taste of cherries, grapes, some apples, and peaches will satisfy without adding a lot of calories.

It takes time to change eating habits. Try changing one thing each week. Over time, you’ll notice that you are making smarter food choices and that belly is getting flatter.

How to Burn the Fat

Now that we have a plan to eat our way to a flat stomach, we have to do something about the fat we already have. With less food going in, our exercise efforts will burn the fat stores on our bodies to reveal the beautiful muscles beneath.

Everyone’s body is different. Some people can lose weight from their abs before the rest of their body and some people are the reverse. It is a matter of body mechanics and genetics. We can’t do anything about that, except stick to the healthy eating and exercise plan to melt all the excess fat from all over the body.

Learn The Fastest Way To Flatten Your Stomach – Click Here!

Most of us don’t routinely work our abs so they may be weak. In order to get them in shape it takes a mix of direct abs work and cardiovascular. As you work out on a consistent basis, your endurance will increase. This means that your heart will be better conditioned to workout longer and harder. You’ll be able to do more crunches and turn that midsection into rock solid abs.

If you want to see a flat stomach quickly, it requires a change in eating and exercising. Both work together to burn fat and recondition your body.

We’ve all seen those beautiful models in the abs ads. They have midsections that any of us would jump at the chance to have. But, that type of rock hard abs don’t come overnight and not with a few exercises for a few minutes a day.

Who Needs Them

Men and women both want a tight midsection. There are many women athletes who want a six pack to show off that they are as fit as their male counterparts. But when it comes to rock hard abs, we are talking about the type of stomach that most men go for.

A rock hard midsection is a challenge to maintain. First of all, to be able to see those concrete abs the fat covering them has to be removed, almost non-existent. Men can maintain a lower body percentage than women. We have seen it in gymnasts that when women have too little body fat it messes with their hormone levels and can have lasting effects.

Visit The #1 Resource For Getting Rock Hard Abs

Men’s health is not affected in the same way when it comes to removing the fat covering their abs. they can maintain a harder midsection and are willing to work for it. So for all of those guys out there who want that chiseled look, this is for you.

How Do You Get Them

The first answer most people give is “exercise.” The first thing that needs to change doesn’t involve the abs but the mouth. We are what we eat. To achieve rock hard abs, a change of mind about food needs to take place.

Our diet is important for good health. A diet filled with fast foods, processed sweets, and heat and serve meals won’t cut it if you want those abs to be cut. This food tastes good but it won’t be good to your body.

Substitute unhealthy eating habits in favor of ones that will prolong your life and allow you to have the abs you desire. Eating in a healthy way takes time and knowledge. No one just wakes up knowing what to eat and how much. They have to be taught.

Invest in a nutrition book or a nutritionist if you have the time and money. Learn from professionals how and what to eat to rev up those muscles. After all, food is fuel for the body machine. When trying to achieve rock hard abs, each piece of fuel has to be appropriate for your body.

Here is a short list of some of the foods that will be included in your diet:

•	Fruits (full of fiber)
•	Vegetables (raw and frozen)
•	Lean meats (chicken, pork, and beef)
•	Beans (all kinds)

Each of these food categories provides a wealth of variety for putting together tasty meals so the diet doesn’t seem so limiting in its choices. Protein is needed by all muscles for growth. Fiber fills us up before we eat too much and the insoluble kind latches onto fats in our foods and washes them out of the body along with the fiber. It is a great two-for-one deal.

What Else Do You Need

Since we can’t possibly get all of the recommended daily allowances for every nutrient that we need each day, multivitamins are a safe and essential substitute. For healthy muscles, all sorts of vitamins and minerals contribute. A daily multivitamin boosts the efficacy of what we are already doing by eating healthier, unprocessed foods.

What About Exercise

We were waiting to get around to that. Exercise keeps the body moving all of its muscle groups. Muscle burns more calories than fat. In addition to diet and multivitamins, exercise aids in removing that fat from those gorgeous abs you are building.

Click Here To Learn The Fastest Way To Get A Ripped Stomach

All types of exercise are needed for abs development. A combination of cardiovascular and weight bearing exercises achieves weight loss, fat loss, and increased muscle size. Total body workouts are best because they hit all muscle groups with the abs always working to maintain the strength of the core.

To change your body, you have to change your mind. Decide in your head that you will employ the suggestions above to achieve that rock hard stomach and your body will be sure to follow.

Our midsection is the key to maintaining balance within our body. It also doesn’t hurt our beach image when we show off that tight midsection. There is no secret to getting tight abs. it is a matter of hard work and determination.

The Abdominal Region

There are four muscle groups that make up the abdominal region. They are:

•	Transverse Abdominis
•	Rectus Abdominis
•	Internal Oblique
•	External Oblique

The group we most often concentrate on is the transverse abdominis. The muscle has eight sections that extend the length of our lower front torso. Everyone talks about a 6 pack but it is possible to define eight sections if you work hard enough.

The internal and external oblique muscles are on the side of our body. They strengthen our core as we bend and move to the side. Developing these muscles leads to a smaller waistline which is something we all want. Above these are the serratus which look like fingerlike projections when they are toned. You can see them coming from under the arms and moving forward.

The transverse abdominis are deeper abdominal muscles. They extend around the side of our body. Because they are deep, they are underneath the other abdominal muscle groups we mentioned. All of the muscle groups work together to bring us a tight abdominal region.

The Flat Stomach

When the abdominals are tight and toned, the area will be flat. Now, listen carefully to what was just said. The abdominals will be flat when they are toned. Actually being able to see them in this pristine condition is another matter altogether.

There are more people than you would think who have developed a rather impressive midsection. Strong abs help to prevent injury while moving around especially in awkward positions. But there is more to a flat stomach than just working the abdominal region.

Without proper diet and a good workout for the entire body, those tight abs won’t be seen. The layer of fat covering them was meant for protection of the organs from injury. Unfortunately we live in a society that lives to eat instead of eating to live. That protective fat pad has grown into a health risk.

Without minimizing the fat, tight abs won’t do us any good as far as making us slim, trim, and healthy. A flat stomach begins with the mouth—what we put into it.

Eating for Tight Abs

So what does a person looking to have a slim midsection eat? You would think it would be very little, but you must nourish the body. Starving won’t do anything except keep that layer of fat firmly in place.

Our bodies weren’t meant to eat processed foods. It is the wholesome natural food that gets a body working properly. Ditch the fast food joints and the frozen food section in favor of cooking your own meals. Choose options like:

•	Green vegetables (frozen, fresh, canned)
•	Fresh fruits
•	Lean meats
•	Fish and seafood
•	Nuts and beans
•	Spices and herbs

The quality of the food we eat is directly proportional to how well our body uses it. Eat well and your body will function like a well oiled machine. Avoid extra fats that the body can’t process like Trans fats and artificial substances.

Working Out

A total body workout works best. All of our muscle groups contribute to fat loss on the body. It is the body that determines where we lose the fat and when but the key is that we are ridding our body of excess fat which leads to harmful health conditions.

Aim for three to five workouts a week. Since the abs are a muscle that can withstand constant work, it is okay to work them during each workout. With other muscle groups, allow 24 to 48 hours between sessions.

Are you looking for tight abs? You may already have them but no one will notice unless you eat to live and reduce the amount of fat covering them.
