<< Getting Ripped Abs Can Be Fun With These Non-Traditional Ab Exercises The Most Effective Workouts For Abs >>
Are you just a little pudgier around the middle than you’d like? Well I have some good news for you… that can be taken care of. You can achieve a flat stomach with targeted exercises.
The midsection is an important area of your body. Along with your back muscles, the abdominals work together to form the core of your body. The core is important for balance and injury avoidance. Most back injuries are a result of a weak musculature in that area.
Simple But Effective Flat Stomach Exercises
1. Basic crunch – the crunch can be modified to include oblique twists and also lower abs lifts. Crunches, done properly, protect the neck and lower back as you focus on tightening your midsection.
2. Boxing punches – in order to throw a punch you need to be centered and on balance. Aerobic kickboxing classes or sparring with a punching bag are good exercises to tighten the abs. When you punch, tighten your abs and turn into the punch for maximum results. Alternating punches work the oblique muscles on the sides of the body.
3. Walking – it is a good overall exercise that also works the abdominals. Depending on the terrain, you might get more of an abdominal benefit from walking uphill that just on flat ground. If you have a treadmill, use a program that has variety. Walking with a heel to toe gait and tightened abs promotes perfect posture.
4. Swimming – swimmers have great abs. working out in the water has the advantage of using more energy to move the water out of the way. You work harder and smarter. Your
Abdominals are always engaged as you do lap after lap.
5. Pilates – many celebrities swear by it but it does work for everyday people. The techniques are great if you are just getting started with exercise. Your abdominals are always engaged as you stretch your body.
Eating for Flat Abs
Part of the reason that exercises work is because of the foods we eat. The body uses food for fuel. What it can’t use it eliminates or stores as fat. Eating foods that the body can use limits the amount of fat stored on the body.
Lots of leafy green vegetables and fruits flush out the digestive system and provide valuable nutrients for the body. Less air and bloating from processed foods can give your stomach a flatter look. You’ll feel better, too.
The key to flatter abs is a combination of not only what exercises you perform but also what you eat to fuel those workouts.
